HTML

Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and its heir, XHTML, markup languages that are used to tell Web browsers how to structure and arrangement, we can say that, display Web pages.

We can understand Markup is information that is added to a document to express information about the document's structure or appearance. Markup languages are all around us in everyday computing. While you may not see it, word processing documents are filled with codes indicating the structure and appearance of the document. What we see on your screen just seems like a page of text, but the formatting is done "out of sight" by the markup.
